Hydrologist
Dr Hansini Gardiya Weligamage is a hydrologist and a researcher with expertise in hydrology and water resources engineering.
She completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne in June 2024. Her PhD work focused on investigating hydrological changes under multiyear drought conditions, exploring the roles of vegetation and evapotranspiration dynamics, and assessing deficiencies in commonly used hydrological models.
She also holds a MSc in Water and Environmental Engineering and a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
She is proficient in statistical and spatial data analysis, and rainfall-runoff modelling, and is passionate about applying innovative, science-based approaches to address complex water management challenges.
