Lachie Hughes

Hydrologist

Lachie is a hydrologist who graduated from Monash University in 2024 with a double degree in Environmental Engineering (Honours) and Commerce (Finance and Accounting). He completed his final year research project on investigating the drivers of Victorian catchment non-recovery following the Millennium Drought, utilizing MATLAB to develop and calibrate of hydrological models.

Lachie has experience in simulating hydrological processes in MATLAB, including the development of systems of differential equations to represent hydrological fluxes and the calibration of models to real-world data using adaptation algorithms. Lachie also has experience in undertaking flood design and utilising MUSIC and QGIS software to develop stormwater management strategies. In addition to his technical expertise, Lachie also has hands-on experience in water treatment, environmental remediation, field testing, water sampling, data and chemical analysis, and worksite risk assessment across a variety of projects.
