Matt has over 12 years’ experience in hydrology and water resources modelling. In their time at HARC, Matt has been heavily involved in the on-going development of the RORB hydrologic model and the associated ArcGIS plugin ArcRORB.
Matt has experience in a range of hydrologically complex projects, including portfolio risk assessment for the Snowy Hydro scheme and assessment of extreme rainfall probability studies for large dams in both Victoria and Queensland. Matt is proficient in many programming languages, including .NET, Python and Fortran, and has developed software for the water industry such as the Hydroclimate Data Transformation Tool for eWater Source.
Matt’s work in extreme rainfall often requires geospatial analysis of large rainfall datasets such as AWAP and BARRA. In this research Matt has been involved with application of the Stochastic Storm Transposition approach to the Australian context; this novel technique allows for detailed representation of storm position and regional characteristics in Monte Carlo hydrologic modelling.
