Dr Declan O’Shea

Senior Hydrologist

Dr Declan O’Shea is a Senior Hydrologist with over 6 years of experience in hydrology and water resources working in both research and consulting.

Declan is an expert on the impact of climate change on extreme rainfalls and floods having completed their PhD at the University of Melbourne in this field in 2023. The findings of their research have helped to inform the climate change guidance chapter of the Australian Rainfall and Runoff guidelines. Declan possesses advanced skills in statistical analysis and hydrologic modelling that they regularly apply to characterise and understand hydrologic systems.

Declan has experience in a range of hydrologically complex projects, including deriving extreme rainfall and flood probabilities for large dam catchments across Australia, and deriving intensity-frequency-duration (IFD) curves for southeast Queensland.
