Four members of the HARC team will be presenting at the workshop and conference of the Australian National Committee on Large Dams from 17 to 19 October in Adelaide.
Peter Hill, HARC’s Principal Hydrologist is leading the revision of the ANCOLD Guidelines on Acceptable Flood Capacity. Peter said that “This is a major update of the guidelines, which were last revised in 2000. They will dovetail neatly with the major 2016 revision of Australian Rainfall and Runoff, which was last revised in 1987”. The acceptable flood capacity and flood forecasting workshop is on Monday afternoon, 17 October.
HARC also have three members of our team presenting papers at the conference:
- David Stephens, our Senior Flood Modeller will present on improving the efficiency of dambreak modelling and consequence assessment projects, at 1:30 pm Tuesday in the Victoria Room;
- Chriselyn Kavanagh, our Senior Hydrologist will discuss benchmarking of two-dimensional hydraulic models for dambreak and consequence assessments, at 1:50 pm Tuesday in the Victoria Room and
- Simon Lang, our Senior Water Resources Engineer will present on warning and mobilisation of populations at risk of dam failure, at 4:30 pm Tuesday in the Ballroom.
We look forward to seeing you at ANCOLD in Adelaide!
