HARC is proud to have been part of of the award-wining Bruce Highway Link Flood Study project team.  The study was named the 2020 Australian Engineering Excellence Award winner for Queensland. The Engineers Australia award recognises the project’s contribution to the profession, and how innovative engineering makes an invaluable contribution to the economy, community and the environment.

Supporting the lead consultant, AECOM, on this Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads project, HARC developed and applied an innovative continuous simulation approach to calculate flood hydrographs, at hourly resolution, for all events over an 80+ year period at more than 500 crossings of the Bruce Highway, between Brisbane and Cairns.

In acknowledging the award, the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads noted that the project was “an excellent example of bringing industry together to deliver improved reliability and flood resilience to Queensland’s main transport corridor.
