Dam owners across Australia are faced with the ongoing challenge of reducing the risk associated with their dams to be as low as (or so far as) reasonably practicable (ALARP/SFAIRP). HARC has been working with Sunwater to develop a systematic, transparent and robust method for working that out. Leveraging our experience with other dam owners HARC, with Mark Foster, have developed a process that incorporates the Regulator and Sunwater’s requirements and applied the process to the highest priority dams (other dams are currently being assessed). This has provided Sunwater with a clear understanding of the next steps in ensuring that their dams are ALARP by 2035.
